Hi, I have a MK3 LS400 and the rear upper control arm bushes are gone. Can anyone tell me if the MK2 and Mk1 control arms will fit/ are interchangeable. I understand that the MK1 and MK2 are interchangeable. Thanks,

Hi and welcome to the LOC.

Part numbers for rear upper arms are 48770-59025 ( RHS) and 48790-59025 (LHS) for the 1996 Series 3.

Part numbers for rear upper arms are 48770-50010 (RHS) and 48790-50010 LHS) for the 1994 Series 2

Seeing as the part #s are different I would say they are not interchangeable.

Thank you so very much for this, you are so helpful and saved me a lot of £ as I almost bought the wrong parts. I have now subscribed to toyodiy.com and am grateful to you for having shown me the light. Cheers.

My MK-III 95 car failed its MOT on rear upper inner wishbone bushes. The inner edges of rear tyres were schreaded to canvas/wire.

Lexus wanted £300 per wishbone, 3 hours labour at £110 ph (each side) plus £90 for tracking. £1350 +vat and I'm sure they would have had me for a few other bits at the same time.

I installed replacement bushes "ADUS 578, 90-01 Lexus LS400 Rear upper control arm bushing" as purchased from LDP Autos on eBay.com. They set me back 70USD for parts, plus a mate in USA to onward ship, another 40 USD-ish and about 8 hours 1st side and 2-3 hours the second.

The Car rode a lot better afterwards, but it was not a job for the faint hearted. Had to make up a special tool for removal and fitting, a bit of maching for the inserts and it was time consuming. main bolts were 300 foot pounds I think.

If you really want to try it, I took a few pics at the time.

Would I do it again, yes, because it saved me tons of cash and I know how to do it now.

If Aberdeen was a bit closer to Hampshire, I would offer to do it for you.
