Why can't you do it? Is it because they are very small if so ensure you buy the correct size soldering iron and some solder with flux in it ( Maplins or the like ) and it should be a breeze. If your hands are unsteady then clamp what you are soldering to if possible.

Anyone can attempt to solder but I have seen the results on occasions normally when I have to sort out the damage caused.

If you are changing the bulbs you 1st have to remove the old ones by correctly desoldering without causing pcb print damage then fit and resolder the new ones in.

If you are not too far away I may be able to help with the soldering.

I'm not far from Derby but also work around Ashby A42.

problem is i want the ac really bright which involves soldering in more leds, and i like the OEM stereo, dont fancy changing it. if it was cheaper to replace i'd give it ago but bit nervous about trying

No point in changing stereo matey unless it's either broke or your doing a big ice install, as for the a/c don't know if you can get the 4 or more LED type bulbs that small so soldering probably the only option.

I once soldered a Neo4 Chip in to a PS2 40 Pieces of Kynar wire(bum twitching as the PS2 cost £300 and was only 6 months old)

and using a magnifier made the Tip look massive but was pin type 15w soldering iron And it worked

I was over the moon and so pleased with myself

Go for it as was said earlier just use a small point solder iron about 15w purchased from Maplin or RS also get flux

unless the new bulbs are already tined(already soldered)

and a magnifier and tweezers to remove diode type bulbs when you touch them with Iron(just a touch is all it takes)

just dont keep the iron on it to long or you will remove solder from Board.

i just took the unit apart!! holy pants im out my depth!! i can barley see the led's let alone solder em!!

quick question the unit i brought is the same as the one in my car 13903. if i sort this one out first time, do you think i could just replace the circuit board on my original stereo, save doing it twice? i would of thought the err3 would be in the unit not the head circuits? hmm

Yeah, if you look at the stuff i sent you, you remove the whole front of the stereo. so if you do it right you should be able to replace yours. As the Err's are normally caused by faulty mechanism inside the unit rather than the front.

Good luck mate
