hey guys,, need the pin outs for the older style headunit,, the one with the CD at the bottom and 2 connectors at te back,,.

in particular i need the +12v, acc and Ground..

Looking in the books i've found 2 possibilities.. how many pins in the connectors?

If 10 and 6 looks like they're in the 10way connector.

Looking into the connector on the unit (i think) ...

1 2 ---- 3 4

5 6 7 8 9 10

1=FR+, 2=FL+, 3=Acc, 4=+12v, 5=FR-, 6=FL-, 7=GND, 8=Antenna 12v, 10=illumination

Or if 12+18 looks like they're in the 18way.

1=B+ (red), 10=acc (black), 14=GND (shield)

It's all fed via the amp...

Note - this is just out of the books.

Might be more reliable from someone who's actually looked :)

cant recall how many pins there were,, will have to get Raz to look..

the diags on .net are not for the older units,, even going to 2001..well they dont look like they are..

I'm gonna have a go at connecting the HU directly to the Battery...

Paul like I said to you phone, I think taking direct feeds to both the power and acc may be my best option.

What I've found it probably tonys

This type of Pin doesnt fit.

The back of the OEM HU has 12pins and then 18 little ones. If i was to take Tonys second root. How would I know which is ground (Pin 14 on the smaller connector as there are no numbers on the connector)?

Ok this is the rear of the OEM Head unit

18 Pin Connector 12 Pin Connector

- - - - - - - - - 05 04 |____|03 02 01

- - - - - - - - - 12 11 10 09 08 07 06

01=B+

10=Acc

14=Ground

but which pin is pin 14?

Your 'diagram' of the 12 pin connector matches the pic in the book.

Looks like only pins 9 + 10 are used (comms bus) and even then only if satnav is present.

So, based on that, the 18 pin will be as per your second option - ie. 1-18 ...

1=B+, 3=Amp+, 5=SigGnd, 7=mute, 8=FL, 9=FR, 10=Acc, 12=Ant+, 14=Gnd, 16=beep, 17=RL, 18=RR

Cheers Paul will check that when I wire up the rest of the system. Hopefully should get it sorted.

New Battery? hope not, well at least for this stage of the install.

Maybe when stage 2 is in action (Big Power Twin Subs & Amp) I'll get a power cap and uprated Battery...
