So for those have have upgraded their RX to a gen 3:

Do you miss the "captain's chair" style armrests?

The sliding centre cubby console?

Does the wireless charger need a special type of phone or will it work with iPhones?

The missus and I were having a play with one over the weekend at a motor show and now we've had our Gen 2 for a while, these were the things that had us talking after!

Thanks!

Captain chair armrests - Nope, dont miss them at all as the centre armrest is in pretty much the same position. Also, I wasnt pleased to find that the same seats in the RX gen 2 were exactly the same as the seats in a toyota Landcruiser in 2006. The seats in the 3rd gen RX are more comfortable with more support in the corners too.

The sliding centre cosole is not missed either. I always kept it in the most forward position and never moved it. It was a bit pointless in all honesty anyway. If it counts, the RX armrest slides forward and back to reveal the change holder and the heated seat controls.

The RX does not have a wireless charger, you'll have to use the socket or the USB to charge the phone.

I think the wireless charger you're referring to is fitted to F-Sport and Premier NX models.

Yep, sorry, totally right about the NX! Don't know what I was thinking!

We both liked the new seats, other than the missus who is only 5ft tall, with the seat all the way forward, her elbow is virtually on top of the touch pad gizmo, so is not best pleased that the arm has gone from the chair!

As for the cubby box in the centre console, does this hold as much as the old sliding unit?

I agree the sliding is not a feature/gimmick we'll miss but the storage was useful.

Saying that, I did use the slide feature on Saturday when squeezing into a tight parking space, because it moved back, it allowed me to slide across and out of the passenger door which was really useful!

The RX doesnt have the touch pad? Im confused lol, are you talking about the NX or the 3rd Gen RX?

Yes the centre cubby holds as much as the sliding unit. There is a "secret" compartment where the floor lifts up to expose more space!

My wife's 5ft3 and her arm reaches the armrest. Was the steering wheel all the way back?
