Hi guys, I'm currently a civic owner (b18 eg3) and currently in the saving and selling process to fund a new build, i came across henry lin's is250 from America and fell in love, regardless to the $6000 vip modulars, made me really want a lex, i wanted a is220 but read the engines aint all that so I've been swayed more towards a 250... Anybody got any advice for what to look for and stay away from? I know alot about Hondas but zero about lexus thanks :-)

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Not too familiar with the IS250 but know it is well remowned for reliability, is a smooth V6 and has a timing chain not a belt.

I'm sure other members will chip in with more advice.

Sadly not familiar with that model either but welcome to the club.

Carbon build up seems to the be main issue on those. Apart from that I dont think they really have any other problems apart from sticking brakes and wheel finishes being corrosion prone.

I thought they were chain wasn't 100% and on the carbon build up, stay clear of "1 lady owner" then is there a recommendation to let lexus change the chain or is this asking to be robbed?

So they never need changing? I had an ep3 that ran a chain and it got rattles around 100k?? I read last night lexus say it will last the life of the engine, but in theory, if the chain goes... That is the end of the engine life?
