I have owned my 220D now for just 14 months.

Its amazing after just just short of 6000 miles the air cleaner can be so filthy. No motorways and just very rural roads to work and can be a bit dusty in the summer .

The EGR was well clogged, but I guess that 14 mile round trip per day was never going to produce anything else. The car never reaches normal temps in the winter.

The oil and filter is ready for a change as its looking pretty black.

In essence I should be running a petrol but I really like the 220D and want another younger version if I can find one with all the toys.

After a working life of driving Alfa's ,this Lexus is a really nice machine apart from the fuel consumption, best I can get is 44.8 on a good run and 38 average local.

Surprising then that Lexus only deem it fit to change it every 35,000 miles going by the service schedule

I think that this issue with reduced miles between service and oil life is very much due to the type of very short journeys I take each day. The speed at which the EGR clogs is indicative to the engine not reaching its full operating temperature so I guess I will have to ensure I stay on top of these issues. Does anyone else have the same shortened service life with similar low mileages ?

I change my oil every 5k or so and at same time i clean EGR and air filter and the air filter is always a bit clogged up with dust n debris,the EGR has a light dusting over it normally.
