Gearbox Filter

Hi people. Im pretty sure i need a gearbox filter. Only problem is i cant seem to find one anywhere. Any help apprieciated.

it hasnt got one, just a strainer that you can clean

Yep, no filter as in oil type filter just a Valve body strainer part number is 35330-50010 around £90.00 from Lexus.

Why do you think the transmission needs this part replacing?

It makes a funny noise in between 15-30mph. i bought a lexus( no engine or gearbox) 4 spares at weekend and the guy said he'd changed one in the past. he also sed he recognised the noise. In between grinding and a rattle it is. He sed the filter wud b blocked and the noise was it struggling. Because it only does it wen im very gently accekerating.

I had a new filter fitted when I got the transmission serviced when I bought my car 5 years ago (peace of mind). Bill for toyota trans fluid, gasket and filter plus work was over £250 if I recall. It made no difference to the drive, but I just wanted my new purchase to be right.

Yep, there is no filter as such, just a strainer which filters out any foreign bodies. LLoyd, more imprtantly,sounds like the gearbox needs fresh ATF (don't use Dextron) use only Toyota type IV or exact equivalent such as Mobil 3309 from eBay. By the way, only 2 litres comes out at a time so you'll need to do a few changes to feel/hear any results.

Cheers. jus found that out today myself. Think i'll hav to clean it 1st seen as though im not sure its the prob. cant believe i forgot to mention the overdrive lite flashes! Again only wen i accel very gentle and slowly cruise. Soon as i put my foot down the lite stays off and i dont hear the rattle. makes sense for the strainer to gettin blocked i think. cleaning it sat.

Sounds like the fluid is low and/or dirty and old.
