My RX 400H wanders all over the place when on a white line, over a road repair or grid. no problem on a motorway and otherwise steers straight.

Had 4 wheel tracking done by Lexus 8,000 miles ago, had front wheel alignment checked today, 7 degrees out causing tyre wear, had to have ball joint and link bushes renewed today as they had seized solid ? then tracking re-done'

still wandering all over the place on any slightly bumpy surface.

Anyone else experienced this, is it a common problem, any ideas

Thanks Phil, Manchester.

Mine seems ok, depending on how the road cambers it can wander a little bit if I let go of the steering but nothing drastic ... do you have standard wheels & what make/size tyres & pressures do you have m8 ?

Every thing as per Lexus rec. Tyres same as original make and size, 32 psi all round.

Never really had a problem with mine. Not that it would make much difference to this issue but I'd run them at 34 or 36 psi rather than 32.

I've been running mine at 34psi this week for the 200mile work commute, gained almost 1mpg from it!

Just for info, mine has 235/55/18 bridgetone potenza's which I believe are lexus standard ... I can only think of worn suspension components or the wheel alignment set-up (insufficient toe-in) ... a lot of wheel alignment places set the toe in the middle of the range which is usually ok, not sure if this is the case with your Rx but a while back I had a 5 series that had a tendency to wander all over when set in the middle, I had to have the toe set at the lowest end of the range (tyres towed in) anything in the middle or on the plus made it wander ... do the top of the rear wheels look like they are aiming in towards the car a bit ?

Got to take it back in 2 weeks for an alignment check so I'll discuss this with them , thanks

Hi Phil, take the car here:

http://www.drurylaneservices.com/

I've used them on two of my cars, they're an excellent outfit. They sorted out my Mercedes so it went from wandering all over the place to literally driving on rails - the difference was enormous.

They're the only people around here I trust with alignment. Price is usually just shy of £100 or so.

Put new fronts on mine and had it track aligned on a flashy computer laser system, steady as a rock now!

Had mine 4 wheel tracked at Lexus last year, didn't make much difference I'm afraid. I'd have it done again at a specialist (tracking went well out after 8 thousand miles and scrubbed the fronts) if I could be certain it would cure it "cos it's a bit expensive if it doesn't do the trick.

A local tyre place called Westgate Tyres in Morecambe, a bit of a way for you to go Phil
