Guys,

Had the car in for a MOT, a few advisories on the engine and underbody cover shields and also the heatshield clamp loose, where is this clamp located? it said near side on the advisory.

Some people just take these off but I am sure if they were not required they would not be put on in the first place.

It sounds like a picky MOT tester, there are normally heat shields on the cat and exhaust boxes, the fastenings are/were stainless steel, probably an idea to get into an exhaust fitters and let them yake a look as they should also have the clamps.

looks like it, do they give advisories for covers on the engine and under the body?!

I've had these advisories about the covers - said various things were not inspected due to covers fitted in engine bay and underbody. MoT testers are not allowed to dismantle anything. So they can't see the bodywork around the tops of the shock absorber towers for example.

But my usual tester doesn't mention them. (On one occasion I had to take it to a local Ford dealer as my usual tester was shut down for the vital month for 'retraining' - ie they'd been caught out by VOSA!)
