Hi looking to replace my fathers aged Honda accord 92 auto

What model of ct should I be looking at. He doesn't like leather interior so much. Seen a few out there without.

Like the idea of the high up display

What should I be looking for budget I wou say up to 15k

Any thoughts please

If you don't want leather then you would be looking at the SE-I grade up to Oct 2012, or an S or SE from Nov 2012 onwards. Just depends what toys are want - the drivetrain etc is the same across the whole range.

Leather is not a show stopper but would prefer without

Don't like the radio display of the 1st model would prefer if it's on the dash up higher

I moved from an Accord auto and have been very happy. Suggest you look at autotrader - the specs of the cars are often listed extensively - after very little time you'll see what's available on which model. Alternatively visit a lexus dealer. For your budget the pre 2014 facelift models are likely.

Thanks yes been looking there. think it's going to be down On colour now and spec. He doesn't like red, black or white lol. Is the display on dash from certain year or model?

Not sure what you mean by display on dash - if you mean the central video screen it's foldable on pre 2014 models and fixed following the facelift

How does the ct compare to the Accord? Looking at some reviews they are saying ride quality is harsh?

I prefer the ct - I had the accord for ten years and another before that - the boot is smaller and there's no opportunity to override the auto like in the accord - but the fuel saving is massive - use about 60% of what i used in the accord. I test drove the pre facelift on 17" wheels but bought the post facelift on 16". The test ride was a little harsh but I've no complaints with what I bought. 16" as definitely preferable. As to colour look at the ultra blue it stands out from other blues on other cars.

Hi KDS what year is yours? I think 16" rims is the way to go my Dad is very happy with the ride quality of his current accord so I don't want to upset the applecart...

what year does facelift start from will look at colours that will be down to him though he quite likes the gunmetal grey :)

I agree by only looking at the pictures the accord have a really nice size boot, don't think my parents will it the boot size too much 1 thing the accord model he has the seats DONT fold down

My accord was fold down seats and one of reason I left honda was the later accords don't fold. The facelift came in at January 2014 though deliveries wern't until March when j got mine. I have a premier in ultra blue with cream yellow leather which I think is a great combo but I note the anti leather view of your father. There was quite a lot of upgrades in the facelift which improved ride, noise deadening, engine take up and importantly replaced puncture goo with a space saving spare wheel. For me the improvements tipped the balance towards the later model.

Thanks again I'm wondering if a space saver wheel can be added to pre face?

Looked on autotrader can see them going around 18k+ really 15k would be top budget can see a few nice tweaks like the bigger I think screen look like a jog dial replaced the squareish knob and some body style

Hi Par,

yes, the jack and wheel brace come with the car. I took out the unwanted parts and stored them in my garage until I px'd the car, then just put them in the luggage space. I also left the space saver in the car as it was a 16" and my IS300 runs on 17". Reading through, the CT seems to be most popular on 16's. Oh! and the 'goo', I think has a shelf life of about two years, even more reason to get a space saver.

Don't forget to look at other peoples solutions to this problem prior/after mine, all variations on a theme, but interesting. It may be that you'll find a pre facelift with a space saver fitted, happy hunting.

Also what's the ground clearance like? as his Honda is quite low

Ground clearance is fine for things like speed bumps, but be careful if you are trying to drive a car up a kerb to park off road as there isn't much room under the spoiler. Main thing to be aware of is the doors open very close to ground and if you open the door against the pavement it's easy to catch the bottom of the door if the kerb is only a little higher than usual. So check under doors to see if the bottom corner doesn't have any paint missing. Have had to touch mine up several times.

Hi Par,

Richard has answered part of your question, the same goes for the IS, but I never park off road and always remind the wife to watch the kerb with the door.

I found the CT very good, no complaints about the car, over about 38,000km ( 25 months) it gave me a return of about 4.65 l/100km, (around 61mpg) - look me up on 'Fuelly,' or 'Spiritmonitor.de.' However, I am not a Spring chicken any more and my lumber area was always playing up, as was the wife's. The IS is a different ball game, the bumps/holes are still in the roads, but the superior damping and seats are kinder to our poor old backs, they haven't given us any jip at all in the IS.

Size, unlike popular belief, does not really matter, it's how you use it ! Tomorrow, I shall fill the IS for the third time, at moment it is on 47mpg, I will expect that to go to about 49/50mpg after tomorrows fill. Prior to the CT I had a 96 Subaru Impressa from new, another trouble free car. Now it is dirty, battered and used for the rubbish run, or carting large items about, bit thirsty though.

Just had to take mine in for oil leak from timing cover gasket. Dealership were astounded that a CT had come in for engine warranty work.

Not saying its a common problem, but carry out quick check if buying used.

Just residue but changed gasket anyway. Yes, they are chain driven.

Toyota Auris Hybrid Pretty much the same car - the badge.

The Auris is actually 90% CT for <90% cost. It pretty much drives like it and has a decent interior to match. Not too good looking on the outside in my opinion but its still a good car.
