hi everyone i hope this is the correct area to post my query ,,,,i brought my is200 2001 last weekend and had the dreaded what seems to be common steering wheel wobble on braking so i got some new discs today and have just finished putting them on no problems there ,,,,,however i did notice on my passenger side caliper pistons when i compressed one into the caliper the other one slides out ,,,when i press that one back in the same thing happens ,,,the other one slides out ,,,,,is this normal i am used to driving cars with single piston calipers so am unsure if i have a knackerd caliper or an air lock in it,,,,,,,,,,( it didnt do this on the drivers side )

i am of the impression that my caliper is goosed and that is why i have steering wheel wobble on breaking due to an imbalance in the brakes.

any advice gratefully taken

many thanks ICKLE

That's normal - you are compressing the fluid into the other chamber when pressing one piston in so the other piston comes out. If this is not happening on the drivers side then this will be a contributing factor to the wobble you have experienced.

If you are unsure of airlocks, any doubt, then its advisable to bleed your brakes.

If you have felt the steering shake when braking through the steering wheel then it will more than likely be an issue with the front brakes - it you feel a shake through the seats then its likely to be an issue with the real braking system

UPDATE

brakes are working perfect and the wheel wobble on breaking has gone completly ..
