The Centre piece where you put the key in will not budge! I have manage to get both sides where the clips are but the middle part will not move. bare in mind that I undun the clips and the bolts. Can anyone direct me as of what im doing wrong?

Sorry even the exploded diagram is unclear, I'll move your thread to the mainstream IS200 forum to see if you get a definitive reply.

Hiya mate,

I can see what you are trying to do, remove the number plate surround to get to the number plate lights. Once you removed the liner on the inside of the boot undo the 4 8mm bolts, two to the far left and right on the number plate surround, then you have to remove the two 8mm bolts for the locking mechanism on the boot itself.

Once you have undone all 4 8mm bolts, the plastic trim surround is on pop clips, GENTLY lift the surround moving towards the boot lock, the plastic trim will come off to reveal the number plate lights.

To change these you will need to get a screw driver on the two plastic clips either side of the of the number plate light (from the inside of the boot) a torch might be helpful if you cant see them. Push the clips back and pull the number plate light out.

Hope this gets you out of trouble.

What he says... U have to do the lock bolts ... Don't worry it fits straight back.

Even though the bolts are awkward, make sure u tighten them right up again because your in car boot lever won't work if you don't

P.s there are nice LED units on eBay to replace them with, if there is dirt inside your units as I know the standard aren't too well sealed

Never had to undo the lock bolts when I've changed mine. I agree it's not the most easy job in the world, but when I've done it I just remove the 8mm nuts inside the boot lid (don't do what I did, and drop one of the nuts inside the boot lid!) and then from the outside, use a flat scraper / putty knife (protect paintwork!) and lever the trim to un-pop the poppers.

Why they didn't just put quick release light covers in there I don't know.....

I ended up snapping the light trim in half. Its not obvious unless you are looking for it.

About £80 from the dealers, I didn't ask it if was colour coded or not.
