Hi All,

Need some advice on my IS 250.

I have had the car in storage for a few years and I now need the car. The Battery was flat as you would expect so I have replaced the Battery with a genuine toyota dealership Battery. I have not got an issue with the start button.

When I press the start button I get nothing the dash doesn't light up I don't get an orange light on the button. Headlights and horn etc are working.

I have been told that there may be a combination of steps to carry out any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks Paul..

Try holding the key fob above the button then press it. Thats what we do on brand new Toyotas to start them before they go in the workshop.

Assuming you've replaced the buttons in the key fob as well, Dean's comment is what you're looking for.

Hi thanks for the info, I haven't needed to replace the Battery in the FOB. I have tried holding it over the button to no effect. The FOB does still open and close the car so I assume its ok. Any other ideas?

Thanks Paul..

This sounds quite odd. I'd try disconnecting the Battery for a couple of minutes - sometimes this can resolve weird computer gremlins, for the same reason that turning your computer off and on again can. My next step would be to start pulling and testing fuses on the assumption that no lights means no power.

Could this be an issue with your brakes? With the car stored for a while they could have seized up - in pressing the brake pedal you are not getting enough travel in order to light the start button and in turn start the car

Just a thought ...

I know this may sound daft but, did you replace the Battery yourself? if yes then did you re-connect all the positive side leads(there should be 3 I think). I cleaned my egr a while ago and forgot one of the leads and it gives the same result as you're getting.
