Sat Nav And Incar Entertainment Problems

Recommended Posts

hi

i have just purchased a lexus rx300, 2004 , having problems with sat nave, and also lexus built in video system .

sat nav, screen just displays 'cannot read data, check map dvd', there is a dvd in not sure which numbers on it im supposed to read , but its version 2004\2005 version 1 ? mean anything to anyone.? it also reads 'no disc' when weve taken disc out, that mean its a disc problem ? not the actual sat nav? the dvd player is under drivers seat, and reads on the head rest screens 'no disc' when one is inserted. also one of the screens does not stay on ? any help?

This happens to me from time to time - usually in the winter. I think it's to do with condensation forming on the DVD in the boot. I find pressing the "Map" button normally sorts things out. Hope this helps.

Should also have mentioned that the satnav dvd reader is in the boot. Under the false floor on the right hand side.

I think the DVD player under the drivers seat controls the screens in the headrests - though I could be wrong.

Yep, the sat nav DVD player is in the boot and can get moisture in it in certain conditions. The ICE DVD player is under the drivers seat and both units probably need a good clean after 10 years of use. The lens's inside the players themselves probably need a good clean with an ethanol based cleaning solution.

High jacking the tread a little, does anybody know where there could be more fuses for the ICE DVD player and screens? I have a permanent 12v supply to them, but the switched ACC 12v supply is missing when the ignition switch is in the ACC ( accessory ) position or engine is on. I have found the fuse under the passenger seat and replaced that as it was blown. There must be another one somewhere, as all fuses under the bonnet are good too. Any ideas please ( 2004 RX300 ) ?

Not to worry - power now restored to the DVD unit and headrest screens. Either the under passenger seat replacement fuse was not seated fully or there is/was a loose connection under the seat somewhere. Power now good and now on to the faulty DVD player now. I have ordered a replacement 13way flex ribbon cable for inside the player. Looks to be intermittently open circuit causing the dvd's to eject whenever they are pushed in. I wil let you know if it works when replaced.

The replacement ribbon worked and the RX was sold on with fully working electrics and functionality as if it was new. 11 years on!

After a good few weeks on the drive not being used, I had to use the car for a few days before the sat nav DVD player worked again. This was obviously due to the moisture build up in the boot.

In the end, a  happy seller and purchaser.
