Well, after 8 years and 60K miles our perfect RX300 has now gone, after buying a new 4X4 just before Christmas and both of us now retired we no longer need "the lifeboat" as it was affectionately called.......or two cars on the drive.

Lady popped around to see it, bought it after about 5 minutes........as I knew who ever saw it would.

Sad day.

I've never had a car for 8 years but plenty driven for over 60k miles and that's a lot of hours spent in them. You do kind of get attached to them.

Haha, no 450 as replacement, taking its place now is a shiney new Audi Q3..........lovely little car which is comfortable and a pleasure to drive, also gives 42mpg which is nice after the 22-23 of the RX :whistling:

Attached indeed........it had been our main car for a good few years then our second car (hence the low mileage) for a few, in the end it was basically or "lifeboat"......always there, always ready, no fuss no problems.

It's going to be a hard act to follow.

Out of interest, why no NX?

We tried the NX but basically although nicely screwed together it rode very harshly and was too low to have easy ingress/egress, it seemed more like a pumped up hatchback than a SUV/Crossover.......kind of like the MB GLA we tried also.

Fair enough - I've never driven a Q3 but thought it'd be lower than the NX. Anyway good luck with it!

They must of made the Q3 suspension much better than the Q5. Ours was terrible and sold the car because of it. Very harsh and noisy, only kept delivery of the car because the dealer said it would bed in within time. Was still the same after 10k miles. I told them something must be wrong with the car but they said then are all like that!

They have. much better.......the Q3 is known for its good ride quality compared to other Audis's (although the A6 Hybrid we had before was sublime, but normal suspension not S-line), but having said that apparently the FL Q5 from 2012MY has a better ride than the previous iterations.

Biggest problem with Audi's (or the customers really) is they tend to get ordered with the sports suspension, totally superfluous in real world driving, the "normal" SE suspension if its available makes a big different to ride comfort.

Yes I should have been clearer, the NX is physically taller but we found the actual ingress/egress through the front door apertures quite restrictive, could have been down to the more acute angle of the A pillar or just the B pillar is further forward in relation to the H point of the front seats (which is a problem we found with the BMW Active Tourer).

The measured difference in seat height from the ground between our old RX300 and the Q3 was only about 40-50mm (RX higher of course) but the ease of I/E felt very similar.
