Hi

I'm looking to run a dash cam wire down the 'A' pillar and was wondering how to remove the trim.

Is it easy, or will something snap in the process ? :eerrrmm:

I've literally taken every part of my car apart (except the engine) lol

Everything is held by clips so just a case of pulling.. doesn't get easier...

Do you have photo of the trim that you want to remove?

Posted

I've no photo, but its the trim that runs from the roof to the dash on the inside of the 'A' pillar. The model year is 2010.

Take a look at the link...may help you.

There are some pics that should help you see what is going on there.

I've seen some other posts where they mention detaching the -ve cable on the Battery and waiting 2 minutes so that you don't accidentally deploy the curtain airbag in the pillar. Tread carefully and read as much as you can find. Don't route any cable over the airbag!

Thanks Normski

I notice you have mud flaps fitted, I was always told by Lexus that I couldn't get and fit them to my F-Sport

Posted

Yeah I was told that too!

Did a bit of research and came up with these...they are perfect, and not stupidly expensive either.

I have a link somewhere...I'll pm you at some point soon.

They take about 30/40 mins to fit and fit perfectly on my 250. I don't know if the f sport has same body profiles?

I was told by Lexus that the side skirt was ever-so slightly different. Couldn't see it myself.

Going back to the dashcam cable....I just pushed it inside the roof and pillar trim on the windscreen edge. I found it surprisingly accommodating!

Thanks, I'll try this.

Any ideas on the best location to hard wire in a ground point, constant live & ignition live? Where is the fuse box located?

Thanks

To be honest I didn't fancy hardwiring it as I'm planning on connecting to external Battery (astro E5) to avoid draining the cars Battery while the cams in motion sensor mode at airport car park

I'm getting a Magic Pro to do the same job in not draining the Battery. Do you know if there is a good entry point through the bulk head to access the Battery?
