Hi fellas

Just a quick query - is Starfire White pearl meant to be a gloss or satin finish?

Cheers

Rob

Its a gloss finish as all metallic but the pearl effect makes it look a bit satin.

Especially true around dusk rather in the brightness of day and direct sunlight.

Metallic paint has metal flecks giving a sparkly finish.

Pearlecent paint has glass flecks in the paint giving a deeper finish in certain lights.

Both are lacquered, neither are satin finish.

Starfire Pearl is not available on the IS range.

It is actually - Its called Arctic Pearl in the UK. Other markets including the US and Canada call it Starfire pearl. The Starfire pearl on the RX in the UK is actually called Aurora Pearl in the US.

If you put Starfire pearl into google images, the paint will be Arctic Pearl guaranteed.

Yes, the IS300h demonstrator at Lexus Stockport is Arctic Pearl.

Get Fred to find you one.

Never really talked to Fred. Jason's the man, but I think we might start looking towards the end of the first quarter. Surprised the Arctic pearl isn't available on the IS F-Sport. Its a lovely colour - prefer it to the F Sport White anyway

Starfire pearl is actually a different colour.

Arctic Pearl paint code is 077

Starfire Pearl paint code is 078

Both colours are available on the RX450h, so Im afraid they are not the same colour here in the UK, and Starfire pearl is not available in the IS range.

Thats true but in other markets, Starfire pearl is in fact code 077 which is Arctic Pearl in the UK. Starfire pearl in UK is called Aurora pearl in the majority of markets including the US and its code is 078. Hence, if you google starfire pearl Lexus, it will come up with an Arctic pearl car.

The confusion lies because I think the OP has been browsing on US sites such as clublexus where Starfire pearl is available on the IS and has code 077.

Lexus are silly with names, why dont they just keep them the same in all markets.

List of paints -

UK US

Starfire pearl Aurora White pearl

Arctic Pearl Starfire pearl

Solar Flare Molten pearl

Sonic Titanium Atomic Silver

Mercury Grey Nebula Grey

F Sport white Ultra white

Azure Blue Ultrasonic Blue 2.0

Atlantic Blue Deep Sea Blue

Sonic Red Infrared

Velvet Black Obsidian

Celestial Black Stargazer Black

Sonic White Eminent White

List goes on

Or maybe it'd be more relevant if it was asked in the RX section? Only the OP can tell us what colour he is referring to - the purpley bluey white or the ivory white

Only had the 1 from Jason so far after a bad experience at Bradford when they were another group. Bradford has seriously improved after RRG took over. Hmm might talk to Fred then when the car goes in for service in May - see if he can find that white/red F-sport - not too concerned about the miles or the age as long as its been looked after well

Car companies including Lexus do use some quite silly names for their paint colours, almost as silly as those used

by cosmetics companies, the intention presumably being as much to create excitement in the choosing process as

to comprehensibly describe the colours themselves (which is something better left to poets than car designers).

Personally, my eye is happier with the Arctic Pearl (Code 077) of my 300h than my mind is with the name, which

would be better suited to Eskimo Nell's sister or a Siberian stripper.
