Just found a guy on Facebook who does mobile remapping. His name is dc mapping and says that he can remap a is220d and 200's said to me 100% can be done. Just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone would be interested. I'd be going the end of the month if I could afford it. He said with a dpf delete £600. Thoughts?

I'm very surprised why the rest if the ECU remapping specialist have not been able to do it.

Very interesting, has he done any IS220's and what were the results?

That's what I thought. He hasent said that he's done any. But he claims figures 38 bhp gain and a 70 nm of torque. However if you've got a stainless and a panel filter. Would be closer to 60 bhp is what he claims.

Again don't have any rolling road proof or even anything saying that he can actually do it. But like you said you would of thought that some of the big remapers would of done it.

I've just checked the company website he uses and it actually says they only use a "v box" so I imagine he might be telling porkies. Or may of got confused.

A word of advice, I would be very careful If your thinking of going ahead with it. My opinion I wouldn't as it's a big risk as it can possibly damage your ECU and more as I haven't heard anyone that has successfully remapped an Is220d. People have used add on units which fool the ECU.

Also even with a stainless steel and panel filter, the gains on bhp will be at minimum 3-5 bhp increase.

Well I've already got the panel filter and stainless anyway and it's made a big difference without anything. I'm dubious anyway because if no one else can do it I don't really trust anyone else and I'm sure he won't pay for a new ecu if he ******s it. The only add ons I know of that people have used is the sprint booster and then the usual diesel tuning boxes.

Sprintboost and a tuning box with K N filter works a treat on mine

No ive not had it on a dyno ,its transformed the car though and virtually eliminated the turbo lag and certainly livened up the performance.

i would guess its probably around the 210bhp mark,it states on the tuning chip site that the chip takes the car to 231bhp but its doubtfull its that much.

i also run on shell vpower diesel

No i had the sprintbooster first then i got the chip. The torque increase is impressive with the chip,so much torque especially in 3rd n 4th gear, pulls like a train

I'm fairly sure Toyota/Lexus ECU's and Fuel pumps are encoded to stop people tampering with them and remapping. Breathing mods, exhaust, manifold etc are your best bet but can be costly for the few bhp gains you may see. I have seen people piggy back ECU's but thast when they have added a turbo on a petrol on a very low boost, but I'm no expert as others said just be careful.

Hi, I bought a 220d a few months ago with 60k, it had very poor turbo lag, poor economy and sixth gear was a no no under 85!!. I had the egr cleaned. service etc...no change. So i FITTED A DRAKE 2 off eBay, fitted it in about 5 minutes £69. Its made a massive difference.Turbo lag has almost disappeared, economy has risen as my average is now 40mpg, range has even shown the difference. A recent trip to oxford I managed 50mpg. Six gear can now be used from 75 ! The car is now so driveable, its great!

Hmmm, it's an interesting one..I've recently enquired about a new dual exit exhaust (don't like twins) from a company called Longlife (custom built exhausts). Now, as part of their marketing, of course they offered the normal ECU remap and suggested quite a good price.

In the knowledge that I've never heard of anyone being able to remap the Toyota/Lexus ECU, due to encryption, I immediately challenged this. Their response was that, instead of a normal plug and play remap, they'd have to remove the ECU and send it to a specialist company that they use and remap it there.

So, this is either 1) total bulls**t and they've no idea what they're talking about; or 2) actually they did manage to start remapping (probably a little while ago) but, as a result of the IS220d now being an old and discontinued model, it never hit the headlines. Again, a similar promise of 38bhp was suggested.

0-60 remaps in selby yorkshire say they can remap the is220d too i not had it done yet as said above why is it most companys say you cannot remap?

Posted

You cant remap a Lexus. The ECU is locked down. Id assume theyre having a bit of a laugh to be honest.

Apparently it's true that you now can remap the is220d, I have spoken to a few reputable mappers and they have confirmed that the ecu is no longer locked as of a few months ago!

Personally I wouldn't bother wasting time on the is220d, it's a heap of ******* engine design that has endless problems! Get rid of it while it's still running ok, that's my opinion. I got rid of mine just recently and I'm soooo glad I did! I'm sure other members will advise the same.

I have an is220d and have just had it remapped. Excellent results

jordan,

who did your remap on the is220d?

Afternoon ladies & Gents,

I decided to dig about to clear this confusion for you all.

The Is200/220 (ex20) is now remap-able. DPF also is now removable and deleted from ECU.

I have confirmed this with a reputable tuner up in Bradford who i have used for many years and has successfully mapped the best of 6 cars for me so far.

I will be dropping me Is220D sport off to him towards end of March. and i will post my results and figures with dyno print outs on here.

prices are abit high at the moment, maybe because its only just recently been cracked.

£450 for DPF deleted and Gutted + £50 if you want it remapped , add another £50 if you want it mapped using the dyno.

Remap and dyno run £300, the map will be done to a figure you are happy with. (stage 1/2 ECO )

now the last couple of maps he has done have been around the 200bhp, (stage 1) but it can achieve more.

He has put a video up on youtube, i shall post this link later, as i'm unable to access youtube at work.

hopefully this will put a few smiles on some face.
