Key Fob Not Working Gs Mk3

Hi guys

i bought a mk3 gs300 lately. It came with 2 keys. One is working fine but the other had a dead Battery. I changed the Battery yesterday and it doesn't seem to work at all. It won't lock/unlock the doors remotely so I opened the door with the key itself which set the alarm off. I put the key next to the start button and tried putting the ignition on but again nothing. A mesage came up saying key not detected. I have been assured this one of the original keys for the car. The Battery was dead for some months the last owner said. Is there a fix for this.

i saw that post already but that's for a nk2 gs. I have mk3 2005 onwards which doesn't have a ignition switch.

Ar sorry for the duff info, it may be worth finding a good local locksmith and seeing if they can do it.
