Is My Mileage Geniune

When i bought my 200 i noticed it had quite a lot of stone chips on to say that it had only done 30k. Not only that the gear knob was very well worn and one or two other things have made me a bit suspicious. Can i get the mileage checked out by Lexus. I spoke to the last owner when i bought it and the mileage did check out, but they maybe the ones that had it clocked. Is the milage recorded anywhere other than on the dash

You should be able to check out the service history if serviced at Lexus dealers.

The IS does collect a lot of stone chips even at 30k miles. Gear knob can look worn if owner wears rings.

Did you buy your IS private or trade & did you get a HPI report?

Yes did all the Hpi and every thing but they aren't always as true as they may seem. My mother once bought a G-reg fiesta which had a newer than it should have been interior. (I knew this because i worked within the motor trade for many years) also "chic" stickers had been removed from the side. The Chic was a special edition and was made in 92 so couldnt have been G- reg Hpi came back completely fine. I checked the year of make on the underside of the ashtray and it proved to be 92. I checked vin plate to find out that it had been ground out and restamped then painted over. Needless to say it got sold before the police took it from her.

Lexus is fine that way though i bought it from a reputable trader. The screen has bad wiper marks in as well though. you usually only get this on higher mileage cars.

the car would have had to be serviced at a dealership/... goto the dealership and ask for a history search.. that will give you the info you need

You not got any old MOT`s??? this is another way of tracking mileage..... or phone DVLA, explain to them your dilemma and ask them for the previous owner to the one you rang.... worth a try. good luck
