Hi and a happy New Year to everyone. I bought, in December 2014, a '15' plate number from the DVLA website that would suit a Lexus RC perfectly, with a view to myself buying an RC300h sometime in the '15' region, i.e. March to August 2015. Circumstances have changed a little and a coupe may not be suitable just yet so I'm either going to stick with my IS300h or look at a GS.

I know there is information on the DVLA site but I wanted to see if anyone here has any first hand experience in how to transfer a number plate allocated to me to a new user. Obviously, the number plate hasn't been allocated to a vehicle, just me.

Thanks for any help.

I would suggest phoning DVLA. I transferred my plate from the car I sold, to the one I have now, but wasn't sure of the procedure. I phoned DVLA and they are surprisingly helpful, and gave me all the info I needed. I did it first thinking I knew, but they sent it all back!

fill out the Nominee details on your certificate, section 2,

make a cheque payable to D.V.L.A Swansea for £25, and send it to D.V.L.A personalised registrations, Swansea, SA99 1DS,

a new certififcate will be sent to the new Nominee which they can then assign to there car.

When I bought my plate I had to be put on the owners paperwork as the "nominee". Once this was done and the document was sent to me I could transfer the plate to my car ( this was done at one of the now closed DVLA local offices)

They gave me a cerificate authorising the supply of new number plates, cancelled the old and issued a new tax disc and changed the MOT cert to the new registration number.

Thanks, that makes sense. So I just need to find a buyer of the registration, fill in section 2 with the buyers details and send the document off to the DVLA. Might have to try the RC forum nearer to March to see if RC15 LEX appeals to anyone.

thats really funny, you also must have been up at 08.25 on the 4th of December to buy that plate, it was 3rd on my list to buy.

i was lucky and after 2 hours of trying to get the D.V.L.A web page to load i managed to get my first choice, CR15 RCF, just waiting on delivery of the car now

Yes, I was hovering on the DVLA site from 08:00 :) I was only hoping for a 300h but your RC F will be awesome. You'll be fighting off the crowds wanting a look / ride / photo. Can't say an M4 or RS5 would get a second glance off anybody. Sooooooo jealous :) :)
