Popped into our local Co-op store today and whilst the other half did the shopping I decided to take a look at the little for sale cards they have on a board.

Spotted one for "4 X Dunlop Winter Sport 4D tyres, 205/60R16 92H 5.5mm tread" but no price located just down the road.

Gave the seller a call and he still had them so carefully drove around, turns out the guy used to work in the tyre industry and having recently sold his Nissan Quaskai the tyres didn't fit his new Suzuki.

Rated up to 130MPH and load of 630Kgs so up to the job.

Exactly as described with no damage or puncture repairs I bought them on the spot when he revealed the asking price!

I've got a set of spare 16" rims so next job is to get them mounted :)

£50?

I'm still growling....a friend found a rare set of headphones from 70s that I've looked for for ages....for £5 inc 4 LPs in a charity shop !!

Last set went on t'Bay for £206!

You just have to be there at the right moment! Steve obviously was!

Give you £60.....that's 20% profit! (-:

...P.S. Ah....would be 50% !

Winter tyres a good concept, if you can afford it.

Also good when some ******d screwdrivered all 4 of my tyres on my Citroen DS one night-only person to have 4 tyres/wheels stored + ready! And putting wheels on a DS is easy-you use the suspension to raise and lower the car!

50% profit then Chris, which headphones from the 70s are commanding high prices as I have a couple of sets lying around?

My pair of part worn Falkens came off eBay. I was pleased with the £30 I paid plus postage and they were in great condition.

Jeeezz Steve..That has to be the bargain of the year (for all that's left of it) well done!!... I paid £400 for 5 x almost new Michelin Alpins on refurbed alloys and thought that was pretty unbeatable

Well done Steve you little teaser. Always worth looking at these for sale boards, I have found some bargains over the years. Great way to start the New Year. Mike

Steve, are your sure 205/60/16 tyres will fit properly? LS tyre size is 225/60/16. But if your rims fit ,then no problem and an absolute bargain!

Is there a reason why you guys have bought the additional tyres instead of Tyre Socks for the occasional bad weather. Maybe im being a bit green here having only ever had front wheel drive cars for the last 30 years but now have recently purchased an IS250.

I'd guess that steve has a few spare wheels available! (?)

It's a very USA/European habit, where winters are savage, to have seasoned tyres.

But for soft Britain, where 2 days of snow send us into paroxysms of panic? Not so sure!

I was in Canada in '77 when 5 feet of snow fell in one night! Now THAT is snow! And it's 20 below for MONTHS!

Unless they are cheap. Not really worth it in the uk. Only a couple days of snow and not that often even drops below 7 degrees. I do remember the 70's when snow drifts were regular, no such thing as snow tyres but we still got around ok :)
