Potential Lexus Owner Saying Hello

I thought I would say hello. I am looking for a car for my wife to replace her trusted Audi A4. I was originally looking at the 220d but after reading posts on this forum and elsewhere I think I will be going for a 250 SE-L Auto.

We have always stuck with German cars, I love BMW's but currently drive a Mercedes myself.

I am pleasantly surprised at the equipment levels of the IS SE-L, I have keyless go and a reversing camera in my Mercedes and love both features.

I really like the look of the interior of the IS in the right colour. I have done some reading so now have a list of things to look out for.

My wife is currently getting around 27mpg combined out of her Audi 2.0 petrol and by the look of things she can expect to get the same out of a IS 250 which is impressive.

I am hoping to go and see one tomorrow so will report back. If I do get it I am sure I will have lots of questions.

Welcome Abdul. I acquired my IS250 SE-L just 2 months ago. My work commute is 5 miles each way on an A road limited to 30 or 50mph. Every week or so, I do a 40 mile round trip to the supermarket (I live in the sticks !) via motorway and dual carriageway.

I observe the speed limits and am returning an average of 29mpg, so your wife should be happy ! When I collected the car I did a 200 mile return trip, mostly motorway, and achieved 38mpg.

I expect the mpg to increase a little in the Summer when the temperature is higher.

For a 2.5 litre automatic, I'm far from disappointed with the fuel consumption. I'm sure you'll enjoy the cosseted luxury too, I guess your wife will hardly get a look in once you have a drive !!
