Gearbox And Turbo

hi all,completely new to this so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place.Ive just bought a second hand Lexus I really want to look after it, so I would like to change gear box oil and is there anything that I can do with the turbo... any filters to change or clean etc. How easy for gearbox oil change?

Completely useless with cars but I have a decent mechanic, but need impartial advice

Hi Bradly.. i think you meant to post in the IS220d section. any you could start off by asking you mechanic to do a full service thats if the car hasnt had one in the last 20k miles or minor service which is essentially an engine oil change and few checks if its not had one in the last 10k miles.

from what i can gather turbo's do not like dirty engine oil that's for petrol cars not sure if its the same for diesel cars. common issues with the diesel IS's is headgasket failure so worth keeping and eye. you could ask your mechanic to do a gearbox fluid change too as part of the service but make sure right/recommended oil is used and not any cheapo..

apart from air , oil and cabin filters which needs changing as part of a full service, can think of any other filters. best to get your mechanice to do an inspection and take things from there..
