Hi my advice would be to get the codes read first ,as it is all guesswork at the moment .An independent dealer or lexus will read them for approx £50 .Post the results on here and someone will help .was the EML light on before the work was carried out ?

To clarify you took it to a garage for a cambelt and waterpump replacement and the idle speed was OK but when you got it back the idle was 3K?

First thing I would do is take it back and ask them to sort it free of charge.

ive had lots of arguments with mr clucth and its been bk in there twice and they told me it was the throttle body so i got a second hand one had it done and it is still going up and down from normal to 3k

Check the switch in the air filter body make sure it is seated properly that's what mine was after cambelt change

Worth making sure the coolant temperature sensor is operating correctly. If it is in an airlock the engine will keep the idle speed high.

You do need to let the idle speed slowly adjust on the IS200. Drive the vehicle and at every junction come to a complete stop and let it rest for 20 seconds in neutral and repeat (many times) - the idle speed should slowly come down.

The switch is at the front of air box just make sure its pushed right in . As Colin said check that there are no air locks
