Following on from THIS thread yesterday(the latter part) concerning

locking yourself OUT of the car, i tried to lock myself out but could'nt do it,its impossible........so has the alarm system changed.

1) Approached car and unlocked it(but did'nt open any doors)pressed keyfob to open boot.....closed boot and approx 30 secs

the car locked itself(as its supposed to do)... B)

2)Started car up for a short period, got out of car and left keys in ignition in off position closed all doors and stood outside the car

nothing happened(as its supposed to)... B)

3)As above (2) but left keys on front seat, just like Mat C did apparently.....again nothing it did'nt lock B)

4)Approached car, unlocked it opened drivers door and left keys on front seat.....nothing happened it did'nt lock. B)

I have no idea how Mat C and Wallace locked themselves out..... :whistling:,so has it changed?

The ONLY way i could find of locking myself out was to follow step no (1) and leave your keys in the boot :winky: :winky:

B) B)

It's painfully easy to do it in my GS if you open just the rear door and leave the key inside, on the back seat or whatever. If you get out and shut the door, after 30 seconds it will lock.

This is SOLELY because the rear door open sensors don't work (fault on my GS).

In case you think that isn't relevant, I have to say that other members here have (or had) faulty rear door sensors on their GS cars. (Loz?). It may be a relatively common fault therefore.

So if you have a GS, don't ASSUME you can't lock yourself out in the manner described by Scorpion; check the rear door sensors are actually working! The giveaway for mine is that the rear internal lights don't come on when the rear door is open.

I've also been in the back after the thirty seconds, car has "locked", it detected me in it and set the alarm off.

Rear door sensor not working on the GS Series II is a common fault. I know of at least 3 or 4 cars with this problem. I did have this problem on my old car. Found out the sensor was part of the lock and didn't get time to try and fix it. My new car has both sensors working.

Doesn't seem to be a problem on the IS and if a sensor does go faultly it will be an easy fix as it's not part of the lock.
