Hi there everyone, after some trolling online i haven't been able to find anything to help me out,

basically i recently purchased a GS300 Auto

I had it out on sunday whena ll of a sudden i lost drive, the selectror will go through all the gears etc no problem whatsoever however no matter what gear i am in be it D, R, L 2, 3 or 4 the car will not move annywhere, i have had the transmission fluid etc checked but still no luck.

does anyone know what may be a possible cause of this issue?

thanks in advance!

Hello jack and welcome to the LOC.

I take it the car was a private purchase so no dealer comeback?

I've never heard of a complete transmission failure on a GS300, the 5 speed Aisins are generally very reliable.

You have already checked the fluid levels so it may be worth disconnecting the Battery for a short while to reset the transmission ECU.

If you still have problems it may be a case of finding a good auto transmission specialist.

Have you looked underneath to see if the prop shaft is rotating when trying to move? Need to make sure the problem is with the transmission/engine rather than the rear diff.

Hi there, thanks everyone for the replies,

I have checked to ensure that prop is not attemting to move, unfortunately no movement whatsoever so i'm left thinking it must be the box,

I purchased car privately 1 owner from new etc. so unfortunately no fallback

do you have any warning lights?

The only warning light i had was for about 10 minutes ECT PWR was flashing

UPDATE:

Have since swapped the gearbox in the car for another working gearbox however i still have the same issue,

car will still not drive in any gear even with the new gear box

any help would be greatly appreciated

is there and gearbox ecu or anything that could cause this issue?

thanks

Was the torque converter swapped over when the gearbox was swapped?

Does the prop shaft turn, if so, has the diff and rear axle been checked?

Thanks for the reply TigerFish!

Yep new torque converter was installed also, including all gearbox fluids flushed and changed as well as the Torque `converter having the fluids changed, prop shaft rotates freely had the car up on the ramp running in gear with someone in the car (dont call health and safety lol) and when accelerating etc no movement from the propshaft whatsoever, everything when the box was off was freely moving etc.

Really has me totally stumped, and same for my mechanics they have no idea where to go from here and say it may be an electrical issue?

any thoughts?

thanks
