Hi All,

I've just had my IS 250 back after repair for a front end accident. It was not the best of repairs (company was specified by insurance company) so far:

• They left out some studs on the noise cancelling lining under the bonnet

• Forgot to put a new VIN sticker on the bonnet

Battery was flat as a pancake and they had to jump start it

• The wheel arch linings were all not flush and were hanging beneath the wheel arch (gap visible)

I'm getting all the issues sorted, or hope so, but was wondering if any one on here had pictures of an IS 250's front wheel arch so I can verify how they finally fit the linings?

Any assistance will be appreciated,

Cheers

Pete

Blimey were the approved insurance repairers called "Roy Rogers Car Repairers" ( for those too young to remember Roy Rogers was a cowboy).

Looking at the distortion I would doubt they would ever fit back correctly, looks like they were ripped out.

The linings should be behind the lip of the arches held with a combination of plastic clips and 10mm bolts.

Hi Steve,

Yes I'm old enough to remmember Roy Rogers and Bodget and Scarper :-)

Its a real mess from these guys thats for sure!!

I noticed that the front of the linings are over the top of the wheel arches rather than behinnd them have they got that right?

No they've got it wrong. The liner fits behind the wheel arch.

They can be a little fiddly to get back......it just needs a bit of patience. It is so easy to take reference pictures these days that there is really no excuse. Every time I tackle a dismantle....I take pics on the iPad as I go to help with reassembly.

Makes me wonder if the spats at the front end were put back on? They are slightly curved abs strips about 250mm long that go at the bottom front edge. They assist with wind flow and are directly in line with the tyres at the front. There are 2 at the back wheel arches too.

Hi Normski2,

Yes it does seem like a real mess. My trouble is I should have taken my own referance pictures before giving my car awy to them :-(

Have you got any pictures of an IS250's front arches? I can see that they have fixed the liners to the outside of the front of the arches ( guess that is standard) its just the rets that is wrong. Unfortuantly there are no IS250's that I know of that that I can take a referance picture of, not even local dealers..

Excellent. Cheers :-)

On a side note.. does the bonnet catch (under the bonnet to release it) have a rubber cover as theirs did not and I think my old one did

The following video will probably answer both your questions.

Just to let you all know .. the garage has now said that the linners were incorrectly fited and broken and will replace them.

Many thaks to all!!!

Good result

Why do garages do this ... same shoddy work happened to my wifes after a car accident. They put a different headlight in and after doing a bit of research on the web, the light they put in was around 80 £ whereas the correct one was over 200 £ .... do they not think people will notice?

Make sure they do a good job
