Errrr yuck reminds me of some kind of daewoo car with that front end ...... Ruined a good car imho

Posted

Oh wow - if this is the finished product than Allard is utter crap. Nothing on that front end fits properly. YUCK indeed.

I wonder what it goes for though.....

If you put Allard into Google image there are plenty on there with a face only a mother could love. One or two are OK but the large majority are pants. Mike

A bloke at tech in the late sixties had a big soft top Allard complete with dicky seat, they were banger money back then, and not that rare a sight on the roads.

There was a thread on pistonheads about the Lexus abomination back in 2007, there's a pic of a different car about 13 posts in.

This looks like the car the lad at tech had, it looked slightly better with the hood down, but not a lot!

Thanks for the link Mikeyv. I can only assume the cheif of design at Allard Cars was blind, there can be no other explanation how so many ugly cars came from just one manufactuer. Mike.

Absolutely awful! Bit of a travesty really as we all know that these cars have a subtle beauty all of their own.

Looks like they tried to cross a LS with a X-type and ended up with a guppy.

I guess the engineers of Gloucester were good at plane design, but had their eyes poked out when it came to cars.

Sitting at £1353 (about £1200 too much) with a little over 2 hours to go. Seller has reduced the reserve.

Not someone on here who is secretly bidding???? :)

interesting addition to description on eBay for anyone interested.

Please be sure this is not an Allard car, it's registered as a Lexus LS400 and simply has had an Allard conversion applied to the bodywork and some interior alterations.

"Mileage approximate 130,000 (can confirm actual if required)"

When you pick it up, oops its 230,000, why cant they put the proper mileage in the description? I cant believe there are that many people with no taste bidding on it. Mike

Just noticed it didn't meet reserve n is unsold..... Phewwww hopefully never ever gets sold and just gets scrapped 😝

Well if I had been the seller I would have bitten his hand off at that sort of money. I cant believe he set the reserve higher than what it achieved. Mike

I guess they put a lot of store on their Allard name, hence the valuation as a piece of history.

Their problem is convincing somebody else, not helped, imo, by the car hitting every branch of the ugly tree on the way down.

Definately an abomination with Tarts underwear interior. Yuck - and I always thought well of the name Allard, synonymous with Alvis.

Can't beleive anyone would have really bidded other than the seller bouncing off the wall.

It's relisted, but when I followed the link to the new ad, there were no pictures!!!

Stroke of genius???

Well it finally went for £1010.00 should have taken the first auction when it went for £1350.00 but didnt reach the reserve. Mike

Probably worth having if only for a good source of parts (but not the interior, of course)!

History is full of mainstream vehicles that have been facelifted by small companies in order to impart an air of exclusivity or sportiness. See this effort at making the S Class look like a Fiat:

What starts as added value quickly turns into a liability - especially when that company goes bust and panels/trim/whatever cease to be available.

Hideous. Mike.
