A standard M3 along with the ISF are terrible in the snow they would of just slide down to the bottom of the road. And who pinched the contents of that lorry :)

Never had any problems with summer tyres. Ive never changed to winter wheels ever. The Merc is pretty bad however and thats on summer dunlops but ive never really had the need to change the tyres on the RX

Only had the RX for 18 months and not snowed a drop since so don't know how it will get on. I have fitted a new set of Hancock all season tyres though so don't see a problem. The GS will be another matter though!

^ Snow should be fine it's ice that causes the biggest problems with SUV's because of the raised centre of gravity. The worst scare I had was in a Range Rover a couple of years ago running on almost new Conti cross contacts , normally a good all weather tyre but absolutely hopeless in hard packed ice. I was crawling downhill on a busy road near a school when a couple of kids ran out from behind a parked car I tried to brake but knew the car would take off, fortunately I was able to slide it away from the kids and into the parked car causing only minor damage but I tell you my heart missed a beat!!!. Having previously thought about winter tyres this was the wake up call to fit them, I phoned my local tyre fitter and he put on 4 Vredestein Wintrac 4Xtremes that afternoon I then tried the same hill and was amazed at the difference. I have fitted winter tyres to all my vehicles since then and although we haven't had the severe weather like we had in 2010 I just feel happier knowing that if and when we do then my car is as safe as I can make it.
