Isolating A Fuel Issue

Hey everyone,

So here's the background leading to my issue. I had to leave for several months and let a friend borrow my car. All he did was just let it sit in the parking space and run it once or twice a week. Now here's the kicker. For two months he just let it sit, when I got back I had issues turning it over. I've succeeded twice and this was a month ago.

After dissassembling it as much as possible in the car park, I found my air filter was good, my spark was good and fuses fine as well. When I loosened the bolt on the fuel rail to check for pressure and fuel, a little drizzled out then stopped. Even when I turn the car over the pump in the back is atleast sounding like its pushing fuel through.

So now I ask for your help on this to see what you all think. Do I have a bad pump or a clogged line and what would be the best course of action to take?

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

To determine for sure if you have a fuel or spark problem by some "Easy Start" or similar then after making sure your Battery is fully charged get someone to turn the engine over while you spray some of the stuff into the air intake ( may be easier if you remove the filter).

Be caeful how much you spray in incase it backfires!

If the engine attempt to run using this the spark is present and you have a fuel issue.

If it is a fuel issue it may be worth adding a few gallons of fresh as petrol does go off with age.
