hi i've not long had the car but the other day the gearbox started making a faint whining sound then soon after ****ed out of gear so had no drive. stopped the engine and restarted it and seemed fine for my drive to work. it was only when driving back home it did the same but the check engine light came on and lost all drive. had a freind with a diagnostic reader came to look at it and it came up with solenoid E faulty. is this a common fault and what is the cost of a fix.

LS400 98-00 and LS430 01-03 have the same transmission (A650E). Some solenoid related stuff out there.
