Hi all

I am new to this forum, I have a 2007 IS220d with 84500. Have had it over a year and its been driving like a dream.

The last few days as its colder, when starting up and its in neutral the revs drop from 1200 to almost the point where it feels like its going to cut out then back up again. Also if I engage first gear or second when its cold and i go to drive it feels like its going to stall.

As soon as the car is warmed up its fine again.

I had a guy check diagnostics as there are no warning lights and he revved the motor and says it looks like there is a restriction in flow and the EGR valve and naifold will need cleaning.

From your experience do you think this is the case?

thanks

Egr on diesels being blocked is a common thing if you do just local mileage mines 06 cleaned mine about 11 months ago it was full of carbon it was lacking in power but after egr was cleaned it put new life in it I done it myself. Watched video on u tube found it straight forward also recently started using shell v power diesel and it does make a difference once a week u need to take it on motorway to clear carbon, diesels r no good if u only do local driving good luck and keep us posted of the outcome if u take it to Lexus they will install new egr when infact they get clogged up

Hi, same here, when im starting cold engine i have a drop of revs like for a sec or two almost every time but notice that after motorway drive it's not happening, only after city drives which by the way i do a lot of short drives! I always use additive ( Miller) on feel ups to help the struggle but looks like its still not enough. Can't imagine how could be without

it. Anyway its no reason to worry/ take it on motorways more offen for helping cleaning the dpf and rest. You'll see changes.
