When I pre ordered a RC-F I was told that I would be invited

to a race track meet in this country sometime in November but I haven’t herd
anything from the dealership yet, l will have to give them a ring, perhaps they
will take me to Spain instead.

I'm with sofa surfer on this, not the slightest hint of jealousy at all..

Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Good day gents.

I have mentioned in other similar threads that I do have an allocation available to join Steve at the Ascari track early next month.

I do have to be clear though, because there is only one seat remaining, it will have to be reserved for a customer that has placed a deposit/order.

If you are in the market and would like to know more, feel free to message me.

hi guys look like we are going to a fun time.. i was in New York the other week a had 10min go in a RCF it was very good.. but the question is. is it better then a 2012 ISF ??

Posted

Except for only having two doors its got to be better in every way. Suspension setup has moved on since the ISF, even the new shape IS350 can lap a circuit faster than an ISF.

We'll find out in about a month :)

I didn't know that about the 350...I knew it was faster than the 250 but not that fast. Shame they are not bringing it to the UK. Would be worth a test drive in one.

The 0-60 is 5.6 but its the handling that's above the ISF that makes it quicker around a track. The 350 is not as special as the ISF though :) RCF all the way!

It's all relative in my opinion.

If you are willing to spend the cash on an IS-F, you can achieve more power than the RC-F, and get better handling as well.

Just read the article on the RC-F in 'Car and Driver'. Didn't realise it weighs 4048 pounds. That's over 200 more than the IS-F.

They go on to say with all the data crunched, the RC-F proves to be no quicker than the IS-F.

Hate to say it, but the BMW M4 beats it hands down in most tests. :(

I'm also not a fan of its Frankenstein origins.

Apparently Lexus used the front of the GS, the middle is IS C convertible, and the rear end is normal IS saloon.

I'm hoping for greater things from the GS-F which will be the hi power four door IS-F replacement.

Be interesting to see what you chaps think of your test days though. :)

I imagine the handling difference can be easily rectified with strut braces front and rear and coilovers. Not a massive issue to overcome given the performance of the rest of the ISF.

Pete - Having read a fair bit about the RCF it was never meant to compete with the M4 although this comparison was always going to happen. It is a car that was pitched wrong imo in all the marketing. Lexus saying it is a track focused road car is not correct from all i have read and seen review wise. It is the other way around if anything. The weight will ALWAYS go against it and it still makes no sense to me why they made it so fat. I don’t have an issue with the components that make up the car. People in this market want performance and as such I don’t see it doing that well in the UK even though I think it looks great.

Personally i like the look and the luxury but I would back to back test it against an RS5 as I think it competes more with this car than the M4. I think the ISF took the fight to the C63, M3 etc in a way the RCF cant.

oh wow. You lucky bugger. Private jet too. Wonder if you buy one they then supply an escort for the return flight?

guys it’s not about the 0-60 time have a look at this link to a YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-R_xYZXc6Us video on the 2011 ISF with the new updates it was 8 seconds quicker per lap then a pre-2011 model is was down to a limited slip diff and better suspension. OK it was on a on a US track but the ISF was and still is a formidable car... the new RCF is a lot heavier but time will tell… one thing I will say is that the other month the head of Lexus did say that regarding the NEW RCF, that there is more to come from the RCF over the coming years. I have ordered
my one but it got me thinking do I waiting a year or two before I get my one ????

I agree it's not all about 0-60 hence me saying suspension upgrades and strut braces would do the isf a lot of favours for those going on track a lot. 0-60 does help though :)

I hope the future rc-f's will be lighter (or have a weight reduction option) and thus more improved handling. There has been so much talk about the weight can they really ignore it?

Colin I brought a commodore 64 years ago, if I had just waited a few years I could have had a imac.

They are always going to improve cars and there performance,

and they may even cut down on weight, but is it really possible to produce a

luxury track car, you only have to look under the bonnet of a M4 to see there

is no soundproofing whatsoever, I am sure if Lexus had removed that we would

have all been up in arms about Lexus penny pinching and reducing the quality.

It must just be me, I am not interested in any times, I just

want a reliable, good looking , comfortable car, why didn’t you buy a RC then I

hear you all asking, well I like the look of the RC-F better, especially the

rear. And I don’t like the wheels on the RC.

So if you come along side me at the lights in your Vauxhall

Nova with a big exhaust and fluffy dice you will beat me of the line, possibly. :driving:

To buy or not to buy, it's a bit moot for me after the divorce so I'm sticking with my F, still, I'm kind of curious to know if there is any truth in the rumour about a turbo'ed version coming out in a year or two..

Posted

the twin Turbo is due out in 2016-17 with over 650BHP

Seriously??? Has that been announced?
