Quite alarmingly, the White ISF for sale (39k miles for £22,495) has had the front right and the rear left wheels swapped over, Oops.

Ok im a newbie to F's, I think ive read the wheels are allocated, is that whats so alarming?

The wheels on all models as uni directional. On later models the wheels are slightly wider at the back so each wheel has its own position on the car.

Stu, are the rear wheels on later models are slightly wider than the early models? Either way, early and later models have specific wheel locations.

Ross, you're right, the wheels on the ISF can only be fitted to specific corners; I've seen them swapped from left to right which just means the cooling effect of the spokes is lost, but I've never seen them swapped corner to corner meaning that one of the back wheels is a 225 and the other is a 255 - far from ideal if it's not spotted.

I believe so. Or was it just slightly wider tyres in the same size wheels?

Not sure mate, I didn't think the wheels changed across any of the model years.

Agreed as a lot of people (including myself) wouldn't buy one with those miles on.

If anyone was to buy that one it would be prudent to take out an extended warranty with Lexus. I know that many US owners have mileage far in excess of 100K but if anything serious did go wrong it would be expensive. Apart from that it really is a bargain from a dealer and it's only done just over 11,000 miles a year.

It is yes and agree. 80k will come with wear a tear a lower mileage car couldn't. Stone chips and inside. If it is in great condition it is a bargain. I suspect it isn't. I am sure it's fine but feels the right price.

80k is nothing for a Lexus. If its been looked after it wouldn't put me off one bit. Its even below average miles for its age. Spot on price for a Lexus dealer. I think it will soon be sold unlike other over prices ones.

Very common theme on this thread hey gents :)

80k is seen as high mileage for people buying performance cars. That's just a fact. Main reason being wear and tear. The engine may be just fine but the wheels, callipers, bodywork. Interior, boot eats may be mess. Like I said, if it's in good nick that's a bargain but it doubt it is.

if lexus are selling it i suspect it will be sold with 12months warranty and will be in good condition.. i mean i bought my78k stunner for more then that.. personally i would not by a performance car over 100k unless it was something special.. i agree with stevet.. cant see that hanging around for long.

having said that.. i dont think Lexus would advertise a excellent condition one for under 20k

I find it strange that people ae worried about the mileage. Afterall are they not meant to be super reliable? I know Ls models etc have no issue with 200k miles, is there a different opinion with the isf? In reality based on comments above it seems to be the perception. Reality is i wil be buying one with around 80k which is fine for an 08 car.

Nope, no difference it is just the case that the majority of buyers are mileage sensitive hence the difference in prices of cars of similar ages with different mileages on them. I am no different to the majority here and it always makes re-sale harder when lower mileage examples are available.

What??? 80K is nothing given the reliability all you guys speak of! Condition I don't know because I haven't seen it but most Lexus Dealers won't sell one that's in poor condition I wouldn't think.

If you do low miles and you want into an ISF on a smaller budget then this cannot be beaten I wouldn't think. Mine had 80K on it and was running as well as ever when it went, so I wouldn't worry about it at, particularly if this has a Lexus dealer warrenty, seems abit of a bargain.

Think I'd happily take the 4k saving over some of the £20K 50+K mile cars.

Me, personally, the millage wouldn't bother me, providing it had full history, the millage would settle, due to myself not using mine much, I paid £20,500 for my 58, with 49k, BUT I held out for the colour I wanted, but if one came along with 80k n all the paperwork n history, I'd have happily saved a few quid, obv in the right colour for me.

As I said the majority are mile sensitive. You can't deny that's the case?!? Looking at any brand and any model this will be clear to see. The minority are less price sensitive but the majority are and will have a tolerance in terms of age/mileage in their head when buying any car for the reasons I have already stated.

80k is not much, nothing in fact on a Lexus

If this was from a garage I would take it for a drive, this is one hell of a car

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201506044034717?page=1&search-target=usedcars&quicksearch=true&channel=cars&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&radius=1500&postcode=so152sn&sort=default&model=ls_460&make=lexus&logcode=p

As for the ISF, the whole issue of discs, calipers and tyres, pads etc are the main issue. Paint work can be done in a shop. Even to get entire discs/pads can be got much less than Lexus prices from eBay etc and get a indy to install.

I find the ones priced for 20k+ far too much for a 08.

keeping in mind what you can get in a ls460 for example.

They are different cars though fella?

One is a luxury barge that offers minimal driver thrills and great comfort and luxury for its passengers, the other is a performance saloon.

They just don't compare?! You can buy a £70-80K 7 series for peanuts. You can't say the same about a similar aged M3 or M5.

Look at the Supra or R34 GTR Skyline. They are a lot older than the early IS-F's. They still command good money! A 6-spd manual Supra with a single turbo conversion done well goes for around £20K! R34 GTR's from 1999,2000 are £35-40K!! That's more than some early R35's!

You are forgetting there are only 200 of these cars in the Country. Give it a few years and there will be even less.

Take the Escort Cosworth. They are still around £20K as people like fast Ford's.

We will always agree to disagree on this topic I guess! ;-)
