.. but not going far.

After 8 years and 3 different versions (more later on that) of the diesel IS, I am moving on.

I was impressed by the new IS model when I first saw it but after driving one for the first time earlier this year, as a courtesy car whilst my was in for service, I knew it wouldn't be long before I found the bottom of my pockets and bought the hybrid version. My brand loyalty was seriously tested but I have had my 300h FSport for 6 weeks - with no regrets, thus far.

The diesels had served me well, albeit at the expense of a heavy consumption compared to other diesels. I referred to them as different versions as I had an original (2006), the improved 2009 MY and then the downgraded 200d of 2011. Fuel consumption had been around the same for all - I had previously posted on that subject and ultimately accepted the penalty of loving the car - but the 2011 version did disappoint a little thanks to the 6th gear not working as well with the lower power output. IMO, there was little benefit provided by the lower power.

I will now join the 300h Forum and look forward to sharing views, comments, problems (there must be some!), etc.

All the best to everyone still enjoying the diesel. See you on the 'other side' soon. Cheers
