Internet Traffic - Slight Annoyance

Recommended Posts

Been noticing it more recently and it's starting to bug me now.

When in heavy traffic and you ask it to detour all traffic the system has a horrible annoyance to take you off the slip road to then bring you straight back on again back into the traffic. OK it sees it as less traffic but it's pretty fruitless action and just not cricket :innocent:

I've started zooming out to 400 yards when it is taking me off just in case, but I see it as more of a flaw than anything.

The routing algorithm is crap I've come to the conclusion! If you leave auto update on traffic ON, it is constantly re-routing trying to get round issues, sometimes miles out of the way. If you turn it to manually update, it sets the route once, then despite getting traffic updates for better or worse, doesn't prompt to give you the option to re-route. You have to go into the route overview and reselect it, to get it to trigger an update.

Today, drove from Liverpool to Manchester, which it decided was best going via runcorn and the M56. Fine, but then it had me go down the M6 and back the A556 to the M56, despite everything being clear on the M56. As soon as I carried on down the M56, it decided that was fine and lopped 30 mins off the travel time. Beware following it blindly!
