Bonnet Strut

Remember my Bonnet Strut post..

Another member on IS300.net has a solution as is more then happy to let loose on the idea.

So I am in the process to frabricate the mounting hardware and selecting the best strut to go for. (polished like on the VW's or just plain black)

Who is interested... So I know how many custom brackets will be needed..

Easy to fit.. Using OEM fixing points.. no holes drilled.

I know I can fabricate a better looking bottom fixing plate then whats shown in the photo.

I will find out the cost on this week..

There is a cheaper way around this, by member getting hold of the struts themselves, or from a scrap yard.. I will give the dimensions of a suitable strut, and the Nm (force) needed...

Remember one thing first ..... I am for the Members of L.O.C

Oh.. There are 2 ways of getting this done..

The costly way is to have the mounting brackets CNC from a computer...

Or hand Cut..

CNC offers a much more accurate cut ! But costly in small quantities.. So I am looking at least 10 pieces or more if it's worth doing at all. As a one off or just 2-3 will not be worth while for anyone .. Be too expensive.

2 Custom Bracket cost £35-£45 depending on numbers. ... The strut itself varies from £75 to £110 Depending on finish...

How much will the VW one be.. Do you know the Nm force on it, and the closed length and full open length ?

Yo guys, wassup. I remember posing this question just before the data loss and someone mentioned a VW bonnet support and said it was nmpletion. I guess this is related eh? What is the solid answer on the support and cost please?

Just ordered a few sets ... will see if we can get the parts cheaper here in the Uk thereafter... Look out for it.
