Rx300 Security Light Jot Flashing

Recommended Posts

I have an RX300 where the security light does not flash when the doors are locked. When I bought the car the OSR door did not lock and assumed this was the reason the light did not flash. I have had the door lock fixed but no change. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

the light should start flashing as soon as the key is removed from the ignition to indicate the immobiliser has been activated, so a lock issue shouldn't affect this.

Once you lock the doors with the remote the light should go constantly on for a short time until the alarm is set and will flash again. If you lock the doors with just the key the alarm will not be set.

I had a similar experience with the lights not flashing when doors are locked, unlocked. It started suddenly, remained for a few days and the lights started flashing again. Never figured out why.

It is possible that just the light isn't working.

Try testing the alarm with the window open. Leave for 60 seconds and then put your arm it, the interior sensors should set off the alarm. Or set the alarm with the key fob and then unlock and open the door with the key.

To test the immobiliser you need to open up the key and remove the electronics module. The engine shouldn't start without that module near the ignition switch.

If things aren't working then as a place to start I would disconnect the Battery for a few minutes to reset everything.
