Oil Level On Dipstick Max-Min

Does anyone know how much oil is needed to top up from Minimum on the dipstick, to Maximum ?

LS400 Series 3, 1996.

I am using a little bit of oil and it would be handy to have some idea of how much oil to tip in without having to keep checking the dipstick and then adding a little more.

Hi, I reckon it's the usual 1ltr between the two marks and I rarely check mine.

The oil at max immediately after a service generally lasts right round to the next service and oil change, in my case 10/12000 miles annually.

If there is insufficient oil in the engine there is the orange warning light that comes on to tell you.

This happened to me this time around just prior to my last service, having done 17,000 miles since. I topped up the oil level by a tad just before my Spain/Portugal trip.... and did 6000 miles in those 5 weeks, some of it heavy, fast motoring which actually used the oil .... for its correct purpose eh !

It never drops below the minimum.

Hope this helps to put your mind at rest.

Thanks Malc, a useful reply.

Mine tends to run for around 7K miles after a service, then the orange "fill oil" light flickers on and off. Rather than keep topping it up with small amounts and re-dipping, I just wanted to know how much I could tip in to the top of the engine in one go. I tipped in around 400ml last night and it has not quite moved up the dipstick by half the range, so your litre seems about right.
