Collected the LS today after getting the aircon sorted and having new engine and tranny mounts fitted. Now I have lovely ice-cold air (not that it's needed as I write; weather's horrible) and a lovely smooooooooooth vibration-free engine. The very slight vibration I felt through the steering wheel at idle has now completely disappeared (using genuine Lexus parts). I kid you not. I decided to get the mounts replaced in order to banish an occasional single 'thump' I would hear from underneath when first cranking the engine from cold. I had the work done at Japex near Hemel Hempsted.. They are a brilliant outfit. Two Lexus trained lads who specialise in Japanese motors. Their customer care and service is second to none. They charge reasonable rates too and nothing is too much trouble. I can't rate them highly enough. Anyway, I'm off now to try the champagne glass 'ripple' test!

Sounds like your back in heaven.

Enjoy that smooth motoring.

I get slight vibration when stationary, but no thump on start, so probably not the mountings.

When I have time and some money aim to spend a bit getting the car well sorted, as it would be good to see how it would have felt to drive when it came off the production line.

I recall a mate had one as company car back in 1995 and it was smoother than a baby's bottom to cruise around in.

Pete, I'm glad I had them done. It makes me realise what the car must have felt like when new regarding engine vibrations. Because of the mileage and age of our cars I would recommend getting them replaced. Makes a noticeable difference in smoothness.
