Trim Removal

Hi all

I need to remove the trim covering the pillar along the windscreen on the passengers side of my IS200 to route a cable from the glass mount antenna which I'm putting on the top corner of the windscreen.

How does it come off? Is it a matter of just pulling it away from the pillar. I would like to have some idea before I start as I don't want to damage/break anything.

Cheers

Gavin :)

im not sure about the new IS's but i know that the older IS's have a mobile aerial built into the normal aerial base. You will need an adaptor cable that plugs in behind the rear left hand pillar- last time i checked it was about £80

This is correct, and by far, the best way of doing it.

If your car is fitted with the curtain shield airbags, don't run the aerial coaxial cable down the pillar. Also the windscreen isn't the best place to put a phone antenna, as it has metal particles inside the glass, to help keep the vehicle cool inside and reduce glare. The metal particles obstruct the aerial signal, so it doesn't work that well.

If you put it on the rear window, make sure it's at least 2ft away from the radio antenna, coz this will also interfere.

Hope this helps you decide. :duh:
