Hi Guys

As the title says im thinking about one as I don't do the miles any more. just a couple of questions:

1) I read somewhere you cannot switch the engine on from stationary as it is all controlled by the Hybrid system - is this right

2) What should I look out for with regards to Hybrid system - when you should the engine kick in etc - also what am I looking for on the screen with regards to power generation bar graph.

3) There has been posts about engine noise - does this effect certain years?

4) They all have a cam chain - is this true?

5) And final question: what happens when the car is driven on short local runs all the time - does the engine kick in more often??

Never had a hybrid so would appreciate advise given here

Hi Mark,

My advice would be to go to your local Lexus dealer and ask for a long long test drive.

The answers to your questions from my experience are ;

The engine is switched on by depressing the brake pedal and then pressing the Power button. The word READY appears in the instrument panel and remains there until you switch off (Power Down). You then select DRIVE and off you jolly well go!

The engine will kick in /out whenever the computer deems it necessary and you probably won`t even know when it happens.

MY ENGINE NOISE IS NOT DISCERNABLE.

I do believe that they are all chain cam.

Yes, the engine will kick in /out often on short journeys......but you will be hard pressed to notice.

Go to your Lexus dealer and try the car and ask all of the questions that you feel are necessary.

It is however an excellent vehicle with the power of a jet engine!!

I just got mine, New to Lexus but not Toyota. I am not sure anyone can explain to you just how smooth it is. Test glide it and put your foot down, it is a Concorde, ahead of its time.

I agree with this, I don't know if this is a quicker car than the V8, but it will tempt you to drive quicker.

I would caution you, the space inside the cabin, coming from the Ls you will notice a big difference.

Might be a good idea to have a number of test drives to be sure you can adjust to it.

I had mine for a year and I put over 15,000 on it without the slightest niggle.

Also this is a more modern looking car that blends easily. You might think this good or not.
