Ok, i have had a rubbing noise coming from my front passenger side wheel arch ever since i had the car, but the annoying thing is, i cant find where it's coming from! :tsktsk:

there's nothing obvious causing it, and there's no apparent tyre wear.

Anyone else had this problem?

Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

when i have the wheels in a sharp right hand turn (almost full lock but not quite, if i put it on full lock it stops making the noise)

Have you checked to see if the tyre/wheel is catching the inner arch plastic guard at the front? The guard may not be fixed correctly to the arch.......

Suspect the ball joints since it is a common problem

I seem to get the same noise. But while turning both right and left. I think I may have traced it down to the steering assist/hydraulic pump thing.

Its a whirring/rubbing kind of sound.

I have a noise aswell.

My noise becomes apparent on a bumpy road. Almost sounds like something is not attached properly and its shakes and rattles...

It's odd, because my body kit is not loose and the underneath of the car seems intact. I suspect something to do with the wheels or the brakes...

My rear wheels really hate bad roads. The Lexus seems to get stuck in them momentarily, very frustrating as it doesn't happen to my friends' cars...is this RWD?

I also get a rubbing sound mainly when reversing and also not quite on full lock but nearly.

Try turning off the traction control and see if that makes a difference.

I had a similar problem with my two-year old IS. It was wheel bearings on the LHS. It was only noticable on roundabouts, when the bearings were loaded, any sharper turn than a roundabout meant I was going slower so it wasn't noticable. Lexus Cardiff repalced the bearings under warranty at the 50k mile service and no problems since! Incidentally this is the only problem I've had with the car since I picked it up with 18k miles on it. I love it.

I think i have the noise sussed now guys, I caught it making the noise, and stopped moving, leaving the steering in the position it was in when it was making the noise, and discovered that the arch liner is causing the noise! :D

I have to say that i am very relieved that it is not a huge problem like the bushes or summit, but how in the hell do i sort out the arch liner to stop the noise?!

I have standard IS200s 16" aloy wheels, and the noise only comes from the left hand side front arch.

The liner doesnt feel like it isn't installed properly, but i am no mechanical genius!
