Hi

hello guys just joined the forum.

I bought a is200 se 2000 reg off a good friend of mine with 94k on the clock, he recently serviced it and had new gearbox, head gasket and timing belt done too and also has lpg installed. I bought it on Friday, done around 350 miles over the weekend with no problems, today moved car from outside my road and as I went up the road I noticed it lost power and engine management light on, I barely got it on the pavement after turning it off and on again as it just wasn't moving even though I was revving around 3000 revs or more in D and R , I don't have a diagnostic tool for it and cant find one on eBay, what does it sound like that it could be ?

cheers

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Blimey what did the last owner do to require all that work?

You need the diagnostic codes before anyone can possibly offer advice, there are just too many possible causes.

If you are an AA/RAC member call them out and they will pull the codes for you, if not you still need to get them so if the car in not driveable it may have to be a mobile technician callout.

Once you get the codes come back with it/them and we can progress more.

hey

thanks for your reply buddy, im not a aa member yet but I think I should be as it will help me out ,have been having a lot of car trouble in past month with three of my cars , and I don't know why but something tells me that cat is the issue as the exhaust seems to be smoking a lot more today and I can smell exhaust fumes all around the outside of the car,

can anyone recommend me where to find a obd2 reader, or maybe someone knows someone in the Birmingham/ Sandwell area of west midlands?

cheers
