Catheram Super Seven Feed Back

Bonjour tout le monde,

With my daughter, things are slightly changing (especially the shortest nights we've ever done but it's another subject :D )

The point is that I'm not feeling on the Aprilia as it was before her birth, and I'm starting to think about a funny replacement...with 4 wheels as a second car.

I used to try a Catheram years ago and it was so funny to drive, so if any of you have a feed back about it, and can enlight me on that would be cool.

Will probably try to find a fair second hand one once the Zaprilia will be sold.

I love Caterham's, they're a brilliant car and well priced too dependant on whether you go for a factory car or the kit version.

Great fun to drive (apparently - I've only driven a Dax racer before) and look great too. I'd love one when and if funds allow for a weekend runabout.

ahh, a caterham 7. Well, allow me to help!

What do you want to know about them?

As we speak I'm just about to put payment down for a brand new superlight R500 chassis which is going to be turned into a 2.0L Ford Duratec (amazing engine....I spent the weekend in a 2.3 Duratec a couple of weeks ago and think it's wonderful).

My best friend works for Minister power (who will do my Engine conversation) and so whatever you would like to know about Caterhams, ask away!!

My opinion on them is that the driving experience is second to none. A true driver's car. Dont think that you get any sort of practicality though just because it has 4 wheels - consider that they have as much practicality as a motorbike and you'll still be surprised!!

My thoughts ? GO FOR IT !!!!

they are tremendous fun

but they are a sunny day car

about 5 years back my brother in law, was doing some building work for the company

they took him out in one, and he came back and ordered one

took a second morgtage out to pay for it

had it a few months, then his wife found out :whistling:

sadly had to sell it, and is still paying it off now

although the dreaded wife has gone !!

still no regrets

the company is about 2 miles away from me, and you quite often see them test driving up the local by pass

go for it mate! they're great little cars, ideal for a second car and very fast, greeat to get out on those sunny sunday afternoons. I've only driven one once and it was great. Funnily enough the son in law of my next door neighbour has recently won the caterham challenge on granada's men and motors channel and he got to do all sorts in one on a race track, he loved it!

Claire, The prisonner car

If I found one, will re spray in black & yellow and set a course to Portmerion :D

Thinking about the normal one 1,6L with 111 hp, apparently rare in France, no one on the market at the moment, as it is to replace my bike, the practical thing is definitly not in search of, and will be even better than the italian suspensions:)

The thing is that I'm not aiming to the 32.000 euros for a brand new one, but mostly a second hand one, absolutly no idea about the price, as it isn't rated in any place down there.

Tony I read an article about the R500, absolutely fabulous, but sadly not imported in France.

I guess I can understand how you feel. Awesome & fun as the Aprilia is, you get to thinking a little more about the loved ones back home, and having fun with something a little safer than the motorbike.

I know even less about Caterham's than I do Aprilia's, but what I do know is that when I'm on the bike they give you a good run for your money! I'm sure you'll have huge amounts of fun if you get one :)
