I have a post in the general forum with pics of the replaced items when the belt was changed, lots of views. but no replies, I was wondering if anyone could take a guess at the old water pump being original or replacement?

cheers, Ian

I was going to leave mine to the 180,000 service, about 3 cambelts worth in mileage value I thought.

With such longevity of waterpumps i doubt many owners ever get to see what a worn one looks like !

Sorry I can't help

Can u take some pics, of the other side of the pump please and a close up of any writing/words might shed some more light on whether it is or isn't .

That one does look original but if you turn it over there will be a date stamp (of some sort) on the other side .... I changed one recently on my sons mk4 with 253,000 miles on it that was original, nothing wrong with it just replaced it with timing belt kit .... He put some photos on here somewhere .... That looks very similar to the one currently sat in the boot of my car. I just had the timing belt and waterpump changed last week.

And vehicle first registered 98/08, 3 months later, so I'm betting original (plastic impeller) pump with 16 years and 204,000 miles on it
