I have parts insurance with the AA. If the car breaks down away from home due to a part failure and has to be taken to a garage the AA will cover part up to £500. They will do this up to 6 times a year with extra costs. Insurance for my LS430 is around £9 a month. Just bought a SC430 as well cost for parts insurance £4.50. Paid for itself already, starter motor replaced by AA £500.

Looking at the AA web site car needs less than 100K on clock at time of taking up insurance and must be less than 10 years old and you have documentation of correct servicing.

Does sound like a good deal even with the LS under 10 years old, though must be a necessity with the average motor bought by Joe public

Too late for me I've just bought another lexus extended warranty. My cars 9 years old with 88k miles. Wasn't going to but after a bit of arguing they paid for a wheel bearing earlier this year.
