Hey guys.

Bought my first Lexus today (even though I'm not picking it up till next week as they are putting a fresh MOT)

Its 200 sport on X reg.

It's done 106 K (which seems a lot, but to drive and look at it you would almost think it rolled out of the factory lol)

I paid 1800 quid.

Just wanted to know if I got a bargain and with the high millage is there anything I should keep an eye on.

Many thanks

Welcome to the club Lee, 106k ? it's only just loosening up, there are some out there done 250k plus and still going strong. Have you asked when cambelt was last done?

Think it;s every 6yrs or 60k whichever comes first.

3? Must be decent cars then lol.

Yeah I did ask it was done at 86k so it's all good for a while at least. They offered to put a new one on for 200 quid, which seemed steep.

Really good service history was included.

Roll on Wednesday

Sad to see my Toyota Avensis go had that car for 7 years and no problems. But out with the old in with the new.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Hi and welcome to LOC.

£200 is cheap for a cambelt, normally around £350 with tensioner and idler (you really must change these at the same time, seen a few brand new cambelts chewed up by old tensioner)

£1800 is about top whack for one if these with your mileage, even a sport. I've seen some go for as low as £1000 with less mileage than yours. But so what? You're happy and you have a great car :) hope you enjoy the forum.

Personally i still think you need to pay between £1500 and £2000 for a good example. there are some battered ones out there so if it is like new condition like you said then £1800 is a reasonable price. Mine was the same and i paid a bit more for a good'n as the previous owner had up kept it regardless of expense.

Totally agree. I have resisted the cheaper cars, and I have seen many for between 500 to a 1000. But they haven't looked great and have done some serious mileage! Nope I'm happy with it, we'll I will be on Wednesday when I pick it up. Yours looks nice by the way, factory fitted sat navigation?

My last car was a wreck, a good runner but in very poor condition and it depressed me if im honest! i love my cars and keeping them tidy but youve got to have something good to begin with or its a endless battle. and im very much getting into detailing too but there is a lot to learn.

Ive got various invoices for mine with replacement lights, mats, wheels and past paint work fixed at Lexus stockport, so i knew the previous owner looked after it and didnt mind paying the extra. atm ive got a horrible ding that needs sorting and one of the rear lights need cleaning up which im going to get sorted, but apart from that and a few unavoidable stone chips it in better than average condition for a 2000 YM

Yeah mines a SE NAV with 107k. I wanted one in blue like yours but the right car came up at the right time so ended up with platinum ice which was my second choice. Only other thing i wanted was a cream interior too. Doesnt have the few touches the sport has like yours but i wanted the auto and softer suspension of the SE, and the auto wasnt available on sport trim. Yes it has the £2000 optional voice navigation, but its a bit of a dated system for example you have to select each letter with a 4 way rocker switch when inputting address's, and no post code entry either, but i still use it and once its set up it works well i think, and like it just for the fact its rare lol

heres a few more pictures of mine if your interested

Really wanted one with a sat navigation but it does seem a bit dated, I have a tomtom anyway. But lovely looking car. Lol I have had a T reg Toyota Avensis for over 7 years! It's been so reliable haven't had to replace anything except for wait and tear. Yeah I agree the cream upholstery looks great especially against that metallic blue. Your car looks great mate, obviously been well looked after.

Oh and Avensis is a great car. 2003 up and they were as plush as a IS with the added bonus of good MPG. some had sat nav as well. but love the refinement of a 6 cyl and exclusivity of Lexus.

Yeah my Avensis was only a 1.8 and as it was a big car it was slow and a bit boring to drive. But nothing good beat the reliability of it. I heard once that a London taxi driver did over 350k and apart from the usual nothing went wrong. Yeah I will put some up gotta wait till Wednesday though since I don't get the car till then. And I have to try and get that day off work too lol. My profile pic is the car I'm buying.
