The central locking on my car is speed sensitive, I am now living in Cornwall and it is very annoying having the doors locking and unlocking all the time. Does anyone know how to disable this facility please? My nearest dealer is 75 miles away and, as the car is an import, is not very helpful. A local auto-electrician is willing to do the work for me but has no knowledge of the system. Please help!

I think a dealer is your best option. I don't know if an auto-electrician will be able to help. The option will be programmed into one of the car's ECUs and unless you have the software it would be very difficult to disable the feature.

I don't know if a UK dealer will be able to program an option that is not available in the UK?

I find this a good feature.. i was in town a few months ago and someone tried getting in my car while i was in it! The locking system stopped them!

However annoying it is if you have a valuable car then i suggest keeping that feature.. you never know when you'll need it.

I think Paul Norkep's brother in law or brother had his car hijacked and the driver was put in hospital? (paul please let us know how he got on?)

An Aristo Vertex would be on a hot list!!! If i was into stolen cars then i would choose a vertex as one on my list! But i dont steal cars :P

I agree, having this feature can be live saving, as Steve stated, by brother-in-law had his motor jacked - A Scooby - lost the car and also had 6 ribs broken all because he would not get out of the car and let them have it, he is now out of hospital but now feels very unsafe driving alone.

The car was found a month later completely stripped, no engine or wheels. It was taken only for parts.

But from I'm read from the post Micktimpson, your saying that your car locks AND unlocks all the time, this should not be happening, after you reach 10 - 15 mph, your doors would lock automaticaly and only unlock when you open the door.

On mine, it locks and if your going over 15 mph, you can't unlock the doors. I love this feature especially when my wife is driving about to and from work late at night. Having the car jacked is bad enough but being injured during the process. It is worth it.
